Hymenocallis
Hymenocallis, a member of the Amaryllis family, is a tender tropical with sweetly-scented blooms that resemble daffodils. Each large flower has a long cup with projecting stamens and at the base a ring of narrow spidery back petals. Also known as “Peruvian Daffodil” or “Spider Lily,” it has 2 -5 flowers are on each stalk. Usually grown as a pot plant. Native to Peru. Zones 8-10.

Hymenocallis Littoralis (also known as the Beach Spider Lily) has long 6 spider-like petals underneath the central cup. Several scented white flowers are on each sturdy stem. It can grow in water, in wet boggy areas, as well as dry areas. The stamen filaments are green, and the narrow petals have a thin membrane between them.
