Gloriosa

Gloriosa are exotic flowering vines that produce flowers with long wavy petals that flare dramatically backwards with stamens protruding forward.  Also known as “Glory Lily” or “Climbing Lily,” it is a glorious sight when in full bloom.  Since it's a vine, it needs climbing support.  Blooms from July to September.  Keep out of direct sun during summer.  Dig tubers before winter in colder regions.  Zones 7-11.

Nice climber.
Gloriosa Carsonii is chocolate purple and lemon yellow in color. Perennials in warm areas, these colorful vines enliven fences, trellises and lattice dividers. The foliage is glossy, bright green and oval with tendrils that grow from the tips of its long, pointed leaves. Dig and store in colder climes.

Gloriosa Greenei has exquisite yellow-green flowers. Originally from Africa, Gloriosa lilies are beautiful, easy to grow, and will multiply. A low climber that Grows 4-5 feet high.

A most unusual and exotic flower.
Gloriosa Himalayan Select has lovely bright pink blooms with yellow edges. Like other Gloriosas, its leaf tip elongates into a slender tendril that coils around nearby supports, just like a grape vine tendril only it's a leaf!

Stunning in hanging baskets.
Gloriosa Lutea has yellow-green blooms that are crisped on the edges, turning orange-yellow on ageing. Also known as Climbing Lily or Flame Lily. A climber that can reach up to 8 feet, it is lovely growing on a fence. Flowers spring-summer. Lutea has slightly smaller flowers than the Rothschildiana but it nonetheless gives a splendid tropical look. Fairly drought tolerant and pretty much carefree and pest free. Dig and store in colder climes.

Unusual.
Gloriosa Plantii is a red/orange variety. A vining type plant that will grow up to 5 feet high if you give it something to climb on. Each plant produces between 3 and 9 blossoms at a time.

A "must have" plant for southern growers.
Gloriosa Rothschildiana is a gorgeous crimson red with bright yellow edges. Its 5 inch long slender leaves attach themselves to anything they can with tendrils coming from the tips of the leaves. The vine grows fast in warm weather, blooms, then dies after a few months. After a bit, another vine may come up from the tuberous root. Drought tolerant and pest free. Dig and store in colder climes.
