Sternbergia Lutea, also known as Winter Daffodil, looks like a crocus rather than a daffodil. It's goblet-shaped yellow flowers (1.5” wide) bloom in early fall. The foliage is narrow and lasts until early spring. It needs near perfect drainage, protection from spring high winds and warm dry weather in the summer to flourish. Often found in old homesteads, these beauties thrive on neglect, so don't pamper them.
